The 69th Eurovision Song Contest reached its dramatic conclusion in Basel, Switzerland, on May 17, 2025. In a nail-biting finale, Austria emerged as the champion, securing its third victory in the history of the competition.

Representing Austria, the 24-year-old countertenor JJ (Johannes Pietsch) captivated Europe with his operatic pop ballad “Wasted Love.” The song, which blends classical vocal techniques with modern electronic beats, earned a total of 436 points, leading the jury vote and finishing strong with the global audience.

Highlights from Basel 2025
The contest was held at the St. Jakobshalle and praised for its high-tech production and immersive stage design. Highlights included a powerful performance by the 2024 winner Nemo and a historic top-three finish for Estonia.
Austria’s JJ has won the 69th Eurovision Song Contest in Basel with the song Wasted Love, securing Austria’s first Eurovision Song Contest win since 2014.

Music TV Channel / The Eurovision Song Contest 2025 is the 69th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It is taking place in Basel, Switzerland, following the country’s victory at the 2024 contest with the song “The Code” by Nemo. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster the Swiss Broadcasting Corporation (SRG SSR), the contest is held at St. Jakobshalle, and consists of two semi-finals on 13 and 15 May, and a final on 17 May 2025. The three live shows are presented by Hazel Brugger and Sandra Studer, with Michelle Hunziker joining for the final.
Broadcasters from thirty-seven countries participate in the contest, the same number as the previous two editions. Montenegro returns after a two-year absence, while Moldova, which had originally planned to participate, later withdrew due to economic reasons and the quality of its national selection.
